Unwrapping Layers of Life

I love how slow it takes

to unwrap this gift

Unwrapping it day by day

moment by moment

second by second

I love to go slow

but often I just want

to tear in with my mania

My mind's made up though

this life is worth more than

instant gratification

slow and steady

"They stumble who run fast"

So I take a corner

and try not rip and wreck

the tissue paper

The gift has been packaged

by mum

by dad (so that's why there are so many map layers)

by family

by friends

by society

by government

Strange

they all want to give me a gift

Even more strange

they would all work together

I may never get to the

innermost layer

but maybe,

maybe I don't want to

Right now the gift is everything

and anything

I like it that way
